Just a little bit more savings and I will finally be able to buy my fishing kayak! Ascend FS12T from Bass Pro by the way. Now. How do I get it home? I drive a Jeep Patriot. So should I get the J-carriers or foam blocks? Pros and cons? Another option even?

If you do not have a roof rack the blocks are your best bet. I have not used the J rack. You need a way to hook the straps on the door opening to go across the boat and a line from the front to the front of the jeep and the same in the back. My Jeep GC has a roof rack that i cover with the foam pool snakes and the boat rides fine there.. You might check with a Jeep dealer and see what they offer.
As in other posts i load mine upside down. Once, right side up,it rained a lot and the boat was half full of water. Very hard to get it down without dropping it.
I have used the foam blocks for my canoe and it worked in a pinch when I didn't have a roof rack, but now that I have one I will never go back. The problem I have with the blocks was mounting the canoe they tended to slip and fall off, and they will not slide when adjusting. My advice, get a rack, much easier.
I have my eye on a new 15inch rogue river canoe, myself. There is always something new in sporting goods you just have to have. I have used the foam blocks before and they can slip and make a mess of your roof.

I have the Wilderness Pamlico 12' and would have the same problem with the blocks as vasports. The rail for the splash cover is rolled over and the blocks will tend to slide off. jimbo
Initially, I used the foam blocks to transport my kayaks and the Tualatin River is only 2 miles away; however, for the longer trips (and highway speeds) I chose a rack by Yakima. A colleague uses a similar rack by Thule.
