Q:
Thank you field and stream rod and reels, today after getting to the lake i realized my boat plug wasn't in the boat. I took the fighting butt off my F&S fly rod and used it. It worked wonderfully! Any other things people have used fishing tackle to fix?

A friend sewed himself up with fishing line and needle he uses to thread corks.
That's a tip worth posting on the "Tips" message board.
I've never used fishing tackle to fix anything. But it seems almost everytime we go on the ocean for salmon or halibut there's something wrong with the boat and we never notice it 'till about 10 at night and we come up with some crazy way to fix it. Last time we noticed that the seal on the bilge pump was gone. We ended up using about 5 rubberbands in place of it and it worked great.
A better tip is to attach the drain plug to the crank handle on your boat trailer. That way you'll never be able to put the boat into the water without forceably being informed that the plug is out. I use duct tape to hang mine on the handle. It won't blow off going down the road.
Thos pony-tail binder loops the gals use work great as substitute springs loops for downrigger depth meters.
The best and most profitable idea I ever saw was to put fishing line on a lawn mower and call it a weed eater.
Pulg and fuses, also extra wire and pliers. It'll get you there and back!
One time we were trying to get a rope over a fork about 30 ft in the tree and we couldnt throw it, so I went and got my boy, tied fishing line to the arrow, shot through the fork, then tied the rope to the fishing line and pulled it through hahaha.
