Yard sales and the big box and other chain stores in the off season when they have their clearance sales to make room for other seasonal merchandise.

fliphuntr14: LOL , I think you would find about a hundred of my lures in various ponds. I recently lost a buzzbait and two spinnerbaits in one day. I think that John Merwin needs to do an article titled: Going deep in bait research. Where he goes diving for baits and sees which are the the ones that are the most popular!

to answer the question though, wal-mart has some cheap stuff, I buy most of my stuff there.

These guys are right. Yard sales, garage sales, auctions, after season sales at stores are all great. I've found my best stuff at garage sales and auction sales. Places like gander mountain, walmart and the like are great in the fall when the stuff goes on sale. you just have to be motivated to be in the fishing mood to purchase it at rock bottom prices while your looking at the new hunting displays and drooling like I do.
