Q:
After a recent trip to Gander Mt. and Sportsmen's Liquidators, brother-in-law and I came home with a new ground blind and a new fishing rod. Wife said I didn't need it, that I had enough rods, and brother-in-law could probably establish a small town of ground blinds, but we agreed that it's not possible to have too many fishing rods, ground blinds, power tools, turkey calls, guns, or too much ammo. What would you add to that list? Remember, this is a family site, so keep it clean. I'm not at liberty to reveal how many rods I counted when we got home, but will say that some of them belong to my kids. Regards...........

Gasoline, toilet paper, and beer. No matter how much you have, it will always be put to good use.

It is possible to have too many of those things if they take up so much storage space that you don't have room for new ones.

Buy another storage building, rent one or add on. Stack it to the ceiling. You can never have to much of something you enjoy!!! I use to sale things when I bought new ones. Not any more. My fiancée is the one who taught me it was OK to do this. I wish I had half the stuff back I have sold.

It's not necessary and you really don't need are such personal terms. That don't transfer from one guy to another. Much less to the opposite sex. My best advice would be to know your enemy. My wife [a Bklyn girl] had enough shoes for a small country. My oldest had enough Hockey sticks, I built lawn furniture. Find what your opponent covets and Check Mate. You will never win but a draw can be just as good.

I only acquire what I need for outdoors equipment. Haven't bought a gun since I was in the Army (forty years ago). However, it never ceased to amaze me what my wife could find in outdoors stores for me. She was nuts about gift giving. Unfortunately, I just had no luck reciprocating. She was very tiny (4'10" @ 80 lbs) and I could NEVER pick out any clothing that fit. It always fell to jewelry and she had a trunk full of it. Never realized how much of it she never wore until after she died and I started going through her stuff. But she always was glad to receive.

We have not been terribly well-off and I learned to save my money for gas, shells, and licenses. That's the essentials. Boy toys, booze, smokes (ugh!), gambling, etc. would only take money from my wife and kids. I loved them too much for that. Cathy never complained about the cost of my "bad habits" - hunting and fishing - because she knew those habits kept me fit, and I always kept my spending priorities in proper perspective. As did she. We tried to set a good example for our kids.

There never seems to be enough:
Time in the woods, love for your family and friends and really neat knives.
Oh and dang turkey loads which I had to search high and low for.
