Q:
Is the Bushnell Banner Dawn and Dusk Riflescope a good buy? I would be interested in the 6-24X40 power.

I have that scope but a 3-9x40. This was my first season hunting with it. I think it is a good scope for a moderate price. I would recommend it.

Check out the Nikkon 6-18 or go with the Bushnell 3200. They are better than the Banner.

6-24x40mm of any brand is not going to be much good at dawn or dusk, but should be fine during good light.

I agree with RES1956. Most of the entry level scopes do not give good performance in low-light situations. You will have to spring for more cash to get a good scope for dawn and dusk light conditions. Most of the entry level scopes like a Banner will do, but usually only until you see something better!

As agreed above. Look at something with a 50mm Obj if you are looking for the transition of light early & late. I think Bushnell has something along those lines.

I've owned several Bushnell's and a many critters dropped just as good as any other scope!

The only reason to carry a 6-24x is for long range shooting. If you really plan to drill tacks for varmint or target shooting beyond 400 yards, you will quickly be looking for a scope with less paralax. I haven't shot that one but I also have NEVER seen one on the 1000 yard line at the range.

I have had good luck with a Bushnell 4200 Tactical in that magnification. P-dogs are unmissable at 500 yards and tight groups are the norm. Just what you want for long range shooting.
