I have the see through cover on the far end of my scope. That way if I do have to shoot quick, I only have to open the one closest to me and it is a quick push of the button. It plastic is not as clear as just the glass of the scope, but for a quicker shot or if you forget to open that far end, it works pretty good. Make sure you get the right size or they do slip off.
I have some & when they are new you can't see 100% clear through them & it gets worse as they get older. Don't think I would shoot through mine at all anymore. They do keep your scope lenses clean.
I keep them on my scopes, keeps the rain, snow and dirt out. I dont see a problem with shooting through the covers as long as you've practiced and found that they do not effect accuracy.
The plastic covers are good to a point. I have them on several scopes and I would not hestitate to shoot through them at close range for a quick shot. The optical quality is poor and looking through 2 additional lenses can change your point of aim at greater distances. Just remember to flip them up for longer shots. I use the flip up covers and/or the rubber bikini covers when the weather is bad. But if the weather is dry, I remove all covers off my scope when I get to my hunting area. I have also made homemade scope covers out of inner tubes to cover the front and rear lenses. Cheap and if you lose it, not much lost. I have lost a few of the Butler Creek bikini covers, but what is $4.95 compared to a shot on a deer or elk?
no, but there is a new product on the market with high reviews. Shoot-Thru scope covers, interchangeable high quality polycarbonate lenses - tinted lens for bright days, amber for overcast.

I wouldn't shoot at an animal w/o removing them.

Yes, I prefer them over the standard version. They do blur the image, though.
