Q:
I live in Alaska and frequently have to land a zodiac on the beach before doing extensive hiking and mountain climbing. Can anyone recommend a boot that is 100% waterproof up to the calf and still comfortable for climbing? I wear Danner elk Hunters now but my feet are often wet by the time i hit the beach.

You might want to look into a "rubber" boot with a agressive "lug" to them. Lots of brands out there.
Sorry could'nt help more.

mabe you could keep some rubber boots in the zodiac, then switch once you get to terra firma.

slothman, I have done that in the past but a lot of times we are heading in to the beach after spotting game and it can be pretty intense. Its a smart thing to do but I find myself foregoing comfort and heading right into the stalk.

Also I am frequently guiding other hunters and do not want them to wait on me!

Look at muck boots, they have some that go up above the knees. Some Lacrosse insulated might work also.
