Good old 700 in anything from 243 to 7 mag. never hear complaints about the 700. I'd go with the 30-06 myself, but there are alot of great choices out there and most come in the model 700
If you are looking for something new and different, check out the R-25 from Remington in caliber .308, or 7mm-08. I bought one and really enjoy shooting it. I have a couple of 700s and they are tried and true. I love hunting with them too!
Any of the various model 700 incarnations that Remington offers are good, proven rifles. It would be hard to go wrong with a long action 700 in 30/06 or .270, with the '06 being my personal choice of the two due to its greater versatility.
The short action 700 or either a Model 7 are also quite handy in .308 or 7-08. These rifles pack a lot of punch in a handy package.
Although, since your previous post noted PA regs; make sure you're not in one of the WMAs (ie. 2B, etc.) that only permit shotguns for deer firearm season.
Rem 700 in .270 WIN. big enough for most all big game(not grizzly) and with power level ammo, u can use smaller rounds for whitetail. plus rem makes and exelent gun that lasts for years.

slothman is right on the button. Model 700, I like .270 and 30-06.
Agree with the above, model 700 in .270 or 30-06. Both rounds are perfect for deer and similar availability/pricing.

My son has the .270 Remington and loves it!
Personally,I might go with the Remington 30:06,or the .308,just as the others mentioned!
Any 700 in 25-06, you can't go wrong!
Love my .270, and can't argue w/ the .25-06 or .308 or .30-06 either. All great deer killers.
Reminton 700 or model 7 chambered in .308 with a Nikon Prostaff scope. You won't be disappointed!
.25-06 has more expensive ammo...beware! :-)

Rem 700 in 25-06 would be my choice.
Rem 700 30-06 is my vote. Then you can use it for something bigger if you want.
