Q:
I'd like to know who here is familiar with the Bugout bag. I had a regular bugout bag and recently bought the long range assualt. I really like them and have had three so far. The reason I bought the long range is that it has 4 outside pockets plus the regular bugout bag. The pockets come in REALLY handy for lights, mags, food, first aid, whatever. The problem is that it is about 6-8 inches deeper than the regular bugout, which when packed out is very heavy.
The question is do you have any suggestions for an excellent pack?

what the heck is a Bugout bag.
Brad, depending on the load you have to carry I like the Blackhawk 3 day assault ruck to carry gear on the trail. I have not used the Bugout bag. Is that an actual model and if so, what company? thanks.
Also what do you personally consider heavy? 60, 80, 100 pounds?
If its a day hike I don't like over 30-40 pounds. I like to walk not have my back killing me in 3-4 hours. I like the daypack design vs. the frame pack of course we all know with the ALICE we could carry a lot more and stay comfortable with 50-70 pounds. The point is I'm not a turtle now and don't have to carry my house on my back. :) I like it at around 40 no more.
To Christian the Bug out bag is what all the PXs here in the south carry and most over seas.
Try Eberly stock. Great bags. We use them over in the desert.
"Just One backpacks" combine versatility and performance... Made to go out light and come back heavy, they perform equally well as daypacks or as freighters...(Eberle Stock)!!!
