Q:
Please, can anyone recommend an inexpensive wildlife camera that has a long battery life, works well, and functions in the bitter cold? I'm looking to download pics on my computer as well.

I have seen a good amount of cameras around $100 now. You dont need all the bells and whistles of some of the cameras they sell now. All you need is a 2-3 megapixle camera. A reg flash. Cuddeback is one of the best out there and they have one for 99 through bass pro. I have also seen one at wal mart this year for 50 bucks! That works for me. I wish I could spend 1500 on a cell phone cam but thats not gonna happen. I have to pay bills!

the wildview infrared extreme is a nice little camera. It is usually around $120 but often goes on sale for 100. If you are looking to spend more, the Nomad cameras are usually pretty good.

Define inexpensive, because in the trail cam world, the cheap cameras are $50-150 are ok (but most of them are crap with short battery life), moderate priced ones that are pretty decent cost $150-250, and the best cameras tend to be $250+.

For all the features you are looking for, I would recommend the Moultrie GameSpy IR 4.0 (about $200). Pay the extra and get the protection box, also get a couple of extra SD cards, and don't put it anywhere it will get stolen.

Remington Ghost Ir and a new Ir that remington has come out. The Ghost sells for 59-129 and the new Remington sells for 120-150. the Ghost has worked for over 8 weeks on 4 D batteries and took over 170 pics, it has the best battery life of the "cheaper" Ir cameras I've tried. I like bushnells Ir cameras as well, they start at 150. I think Academy sells Wildgame ir cameras for 89.00, and would make a good starter camera. Watch for sales at Academy and you can find the Rem Ghost for 59.00 sometimes.
