depends on how much you want to spend. yo can find decent rangefinders at bass pro and other sporting good stores for anywhere from 89 to 150. I've seen bushnells sport go for 120 at bass pro and Academy. Some of the better rangefinder sell for 200-2000, Leupold, Zeiss and Swarovski if you have the cash to dish out fortop of the line.
Several of my hunting buddies have the Nikon 440 and have used them for several years. If you can't get the range with that RF, it's too far away to shoot at it! My wife bought that Nikon 800 for me at Christmas several years ago on sale at a terrific price. The salesman told her that it was the best one for the money. I probably would have saved the $100 bucks and bought a 440, which was what was on my wish list. She "saved" so much on the 800, she could not pass it up! LOL

Amen to good enough! Some of my buddies have to go the biggest, best-est, most-est, etc. Usually I get as much or more in the way of shots and meat on the table as they do. Gotta laugh, sometimes.
I have the nikon lr550 waterproof, and it is the best you could ask for, i got t for trying to hunt deer with my crossbow, but that didnt turn out to well, i missed, but i missed in front of the deer, the yardage was just rite!

I have had good service from my Nikon Monarch 800. It outperforms many of the cheaper units in a side by side comparison particularly in low light.
Nikon is good enough. The more range, the more bucks you spend. 440 has served me well for about 8 years.
Bushnell Arch if you are a bow hunter. Or a nikon.
