A hang-on with climbing sticks are the most versatile.

A climber is way more comfortable, but some applications just make it impractical. Hang on stands rule in the case of crooked or forked trees, that's why my garage is cluttered with both.

Im sorry I hunt lease land for us we draw for a spot and we start to clear shooting lanes, start food plots Etc. Not thinking about the boys that hunt state land!
Ditto~buckhunter + 1 That's good even if you hunt private land but it's a young man's game with climbing sticks and Hang-on's.

I've hunted out of a few ladder stands before and I liked it but I prefer my climber. I like how when i'm done hunting I can just pack it up and take it home until the next hunt and then hunt a different property. And also its very comfortable.

Large ladder stand with a security railing around it that also doubles as a shooting rest.

I like my Summit climber, but the ladder stands and hang on stands also have there place.

Currently I only hunt public lands so for me the only practical option is the climbing stand. If I find some private land to hunt again, and if I get permission to install foot pegs, I might consider trying a tree saddle - that would allow me to move around and use trees that are not conducive to climbers.

You say Tomato and I say Tomoto.. Hands down a climber is safier. Reason being is you are contained inside the climber at all times unless it is of open design or cheap(open design even if it costs $400) it is the only stand you can use a safty line on right from the start at the ground. Other stands you can not. If it has a ladder of any type you have to put the latter up first, then hang the stand before you can use the safty line. Plain and simple. when you use a climber you can attach to the tree at ground level and it stays attached all the way up, you are never without a safty line. Plus climbing stands are faster to pull and change locations. Yes they do have drawbacks such as limbs, but thats what a saw is for.

I disagree that a climber is safer hunterrick. I use a couple of all 3 varieties and each has it's place. Depends on the situation.

i love climbers, hunt anywhere.. see a big buck cross 70 yards in front of your tree a couple times get down look for a tree around there and climb... and i hunt this nice parch of public land so climbing i can hunt many diff. trees easily... they are a litle scary at first just wear harness and make sure platfofm is level and set in good

It depends on your situation if you Need to adjust your elevation than you need a climbing or hang on but other wise long term I would go with ladder cause their hard to move
