Q:
When I was test firing my new bow in the shop, the the peep sight fell out of the bowstring, so the guy re-tied the sight and said "that will never happen again." Its been a week since I bought it and the peep sight fell out on me tonight. My question is this, think its just a crappy sight or did the guy do a crap job tying the sight back on? Have any of you had ones fall out on you before?

What in the world, not once that happen to me, If I were you take the bow back and buy one from some one who knows what they are doing!!!
Is this one that is pulled straight by a bungee, or sideways circle? On the sideways circle peep, I once had trouble because the wax thread keeping it tight on bottom and top of the string slid up because it was not tied correctly. It still looked like it was tied but loosened the hold on the peep. Dunno if this will help you but it can be nice to check...
Peep sight do not easily fall out. In most case where a sight falls out the bow limbs have been backed out to the point where tension is no longer able to hold the sight in place. You should also have quite a few twists in your string make it round to the touch, this helps with holding the peep in place as well. If you have a peep with a tube, the tube could be to short and stretching out to much at full draw. Either way you have a person doing the work that doesn't know enough to help you. I'd look for a competent technician to help you and then learn to do the work yourself.
Sounds like this guy's incompetent.
It does sound like you have a beginer bow tech, a peep should never fly out and sounds like it may of been tied too loosely.Once is bad enuff, twice is very strange.I would take the bow back and demand a new bow tech look the bow over and fix the peep corectly or as stated above return the bow and buy froma better dealer. Touching on something else, I think the alignment tube for peeps sights are not needed if you use a loop for your release, as the loop will alignment the peep for you.
Time to find a new archery shop to start going to.
I had hoped that the answer wouldn't be "find a new archery shop." Thats what I guess I'm looking at doing though. Why is it so hard to find a local shop that does good work these days? Talk about frustrating.
no, that's not okay. i would take the bow somewhere else for the peep and a good "lookin over" to make sure he didn't goof anything else up too.
good shooting!~
I'd find a new archery shop.
No joke!!! that is very dangerous! It happened to me when I fist started archery. I trusted in the technician and he let me down twice!!! It happened the fist time and all was cool. I took it back and they fixed it. The second time when the peep came off it struck me in the eye!!!! I thought I popped my eye ball. The pain was so unbearable that I fell asleep from it! I learned how to tune my own bow and it never came close to happening again. I moved on from mechanical bows now and only fire long or recurves.
