I live in Alaska where it is legal to carry concealed without a permit...I do have a CC permit though, because it allows me to carry lawfully in other states...
I live in MA and believe it or not, it is not hard to get a concealled carry permit here, at least in the part of the state where I live, but you do have to take a hunter safty course and apply to the state through the local PD. I carry a S&W double action only (no external hammer) Airlite .357
I have one for Montana. There's a lot of restrictions on where you can carry a concealed weapon though, like Banks, Federal Buildings, Bars and Malls, I wonder why that is :P ? Jokes. I have used it more to speed-up the process of purchasing firearms (no background check to call in). I keep my handgun in my truck, long stretches between towns here...
As soon as Mo. approved CC I was #25 in my county to be issued. I don't carry that often unless I thought it would be best, but a gun is always near in my car .
Living in Illinois I feel your pain; Wisconsin and Illinois are the last two states that have not adopted conceal carry. I heard there is growing support within the state legislator to possible pass some bill. The big problem with illinois is that chicago has so many more people than the rest of the state that they dictate policy; and that policy is typically anti gun.
The open carry is you can legally have a pistol holstered on you as long as it is in the open but there was a big lawsuit about it because someone did that and other people called the cops and the cops actually took his gun away. He has yet to get it back. They charged him with disordly conduct and that is what would probably happen to anyone that does that. So in essence it is actually illegal. (its legal but then they charge you with something else so it really isnt then)
i do not a have a concealed but my daddy does and we live in georgia and it is legal to have one if you have a permit but he is a mailman so he cant even carry it in the truck with him.
