Just another of the perks to having a concealed carry card, no phone call to ATF needed. I've already been checked. I just toss my driver license and concealed carry card on the counter, sign the form and walk out with my gun.
They publish the answer somewhere, although I doubt you'd be able to get it from as recently as December.
The percentage of denied requests is quite low, and usually involves things like previous felony convictions, domestic violence problems, and occasionally mental health issues. Basically, if they ask the question on the form, there will be somebody somewhere who will get there purchase denied beacuse of it.
Sourdough Dave,
What state is that ? That won't work in WV. The man behind the counter would just laugh at you if you did that, he would have you fill out the form and sign it and then be on his way to the phone to call you in for a background check.
CCL is a state issued permit. The background check is federal. CCL lets you get out of the store without a waiting period but they still make the phone call.
Same thing in Texas and Oklahoma. CHL? No Fed background check required!
Yep, you still gotta fill out the form. The "store" is responsible for making sure that all documents presented for I.D. (D.L and C.H.L.) are correct and valid. Should any issue arise, the Fed can get all the info they need from the state.
My state's background check is basically the same as a "gun purchase" background check.
If you purchase a firearm in Texas, they make the call and you don't get a reply. After five days, you can pick up the arm WITHOUT the background "okay".
What can the Gov't possibly find in less that 30 seconds that your state can't locate for a CHL?

Just one of the benign gun laws that makes Wyoming the most gun friendly state with the highest gun ownership per capita in the country.
