You must be careful because there are other 9mm cartridges to consider, The 9mm Kurz (.380ACP), the 9mm Makarov are other possibilities. The 9x23mm is another cartridge that fires the 9mm projectile. The 9mm Luger, 9x19mm and 9mm Parabellum are different names for the same cartridge. It can be confusing, but we can overcome that confusion by being specific. Use the nomenclature engraved on your firearm.

The 9x23 is also called the 9mm Largo.
If one had to! 9x18 Makarov Ammo can be used in 9x19 Luger for close-up work, 7'to 12'.
