Q:
This is a hearty "THANK YOU" to Beekeeper, Clay Cooper, Dakota Man, Sgaredneck and all the others who helped me out with reloading advice for my recalcitrant Savage 7mm-08. It is now the rifle I wanted when I bought it, shooting just a hair over 1/2 MOA. Sorry, Dakota Man, you'll have to keep the case of beer. It was amazing---shooting ho-hum groups until it got 45.5 grains of Ramshot Big Game behind the 140gr Nosler Accubond (Rem. brass, Beekeeper), and I used Clay Cooper's suggestion of a 180 degree rotation when seating the bullet. The only problem I have now is that I have no excuse for missing, at least as far as the rifle is concerned. Thanks again guys.

That's real good news Country! Bummer! I guess I will go ahead and drink that case of beer this afternoon... LOL. I suspected that you would get it dialed in. It usually just takes a little experimentation. By the way, I got a chance to check with my buddy at the range too. He is using a very hot load of 45.5g of Varget behind a 120g bullet and drilling them pretty much through the same hole at 100 yards if you want to give that one a try too. Note that this load is HIGHER than the max load listed in my Barnes reloading manual so be sure to work you way up to it carefully. It is worth experimentation as that 7mm-08 can be one mighty ACCURATE cartrige. Happy hunting!

Thanks, DakotaMan, but I'm real happy with what I have now. That 45.5 gr. load is 97% of max with the Ramshot and I really don't want (or need) to get any hotter than that since the reason I got that caliber to begin with was for reduced recoil. It didn't do well with any of the lower loads in the three powders I experimented with. I did buy a box of Barnes 120gr. but haven't gotten to loading anything with them so that's something to look forward to if I get bored. What the heck, I may try them in my 7mm Rem Mag.
