I am fairly new to shooting ( I got my first "real", as in non pellet rifle, gun in 2010), so I was wondering if there has ever been an ammo shortage as bad as this one.

Not in my lifetime.
ya it was called WWII
This is the first time I have ever seen anything like it.
A friend outside Atlanta told me today he got a brick of .22lr - $42.
It was pretty bad when Obama was elected the first time and was also bad after the Clinton Assault Rifle ban. Can you see a pattern?
Safado is right, it has been this bad before, but it has never lasted this long. The recent attempts at gun legislation got people scared. Sadly, the shortage won't end until people quit being scared of gun control and quit hoarding. When do you think that will happen?
I find myself going by the ammo cabinets and I ain't even looking to buy any.
I am 65 and have never experienced anything like this. Obama's first term was the previous worst I've ever seen.
