I've had a couple of the years and have NEVER had that problem. The U.S. Marines use them also and if that was a problem they would'nt be using them ! Sounds like operator error to me.
I never heard that. My stepson has shot many shells in the dove fields with no problems. It might be a case of these people not keeping the gun clean. The action area especially.
Had one years ago and it worked just fine. I bought it with a rifled barrel to deer hunt with and shot my best buck with it.
I have had two different 835s, and both malfunctioned regularly when using 3 1/2" shells. I have heard great things about the model 500, but wouldn't buy another 835.
Greenhead, I remember that gun. Was meant for goose. Don't really know its outcome.
Dirty, or not, Mossberg pumps don't jam. A lot of people like to talk trash about them because they are inexpensive. Don't listen.
Sorry greenhead, like I said, sounds like operator error. I've got the 835 and hove never had a problem(knock on wood, or wood-ducks if you prefer, LOL)
Any gun will jam if not used properly. Mossbergs will jam for the same reason a Browning will jam.
mine has NEVER jammed and ive had it for 2 years and i shoot all the time. probably 300 or so shells have gone through it.
A lot of times it is the ammo. Last year during dove season my 870 would freeze up after I fired a shot and I had to really wrench the forend to get the action open. I was fed up so I switched guns with my dad and used his 1100, but it started jamming too. I figured out that the cheap Winchester dove loads I was shooting were the culprit. The cheap aluminum heads on the shells would expand when fired and stuck in the chamber. Up until that point, I was not much of a fan of Winchester, but I bought the shells because Gander had them cheap. After this experience I vowed never to buy anything Winchester again. Remington is a superior product at a reasonable price.
i have a mossberg 12 gauge pump and i've never had any problems from it.
i have mossberg 500a 12ga pump, bought it in 1988, have put roughly 10 or so cases of shells through it and have never had a jam up, have other shotguns as well but mossberg has never let me down.
I've got a Mossber 835 that I bought in 1997 that I've put thousands of shells through with not one jam, ever. That being said, the day I bought it I took it apart and polished everything I could get to and I keep it clean and well lubed after the hunt. This gun has completely covered in mud and grime while hunting with no failures.
I never had any problem with mossbergs. Maybe people short stroking them and not working the pump correctly???
The Mossberg 500 will continue to work just about forever. When I first open my gunsmith business I stocked up on a lot of the common replacement parts for the 500 series gun simply because there were so many of those guns in use in my area. When I retired 23 years later I still had about 98 percent of those same parts. I love the gun but still dislike the pump rattle.
i have never had a 500 , 9200 , 930spx jam but i am very particular about a clean gun i put a choat fold over on a 500 and thought i would teach the wife to shoot first shot it fliped out of her hands an into the sand , i never finished that lesson with her and that was about 10years ago , after cleaning the gun still works very well to this day
Mine certainly did, right out of the box, at a very expensive guided hunt. I also needed it for self defense, and a situation came to me where I knew that if I ran outside with it, I would die. Living in a travel trailer with aluminum siding with a dangerous/insane neighbor in the front yard calling me out at 2 AM with a fully-automatic Mac 10, and having spent my money on a trashy weapon like that is about the limit of vulnerability. Apparently, the tide of chemicals in his brain changed and he vacated without firing. It could have just as easily gone the other way.
I never had any problem with my Mossberg at all!!!
I have a modle 500 mossburge 20ga as soon as i bouht it it jammed
