Q:
I have some old Winchester primers. On the box it says, "Winchester Center fire Staynless Primers No. 225." They're in small wooden boxes and measure .225 instead of .210, which is what larger rifle primers measure. Does anyone know what would the .225's have been used for?

WHAT A FINE! Hang onto them, don't use them $$$$$ Sounds like a real collectors item!

I would contact Winchester and ask them and get the full story.

WOW!

I agree with Mr. Cooper. A call to Winchester to verify the original use might just prove interesting.

I willing to bet, that box of primers was a special run as gifts to someone! I never seen wooden primer boxes, has anyone else?

Yes Clay, I remember my Pop reloading rifle shells in the early 60's, the primers came in a wooden box, just like this other gentleman. Pop had bought his supplies from a store here in Denver called "Dave Cooks Sporting Goods", wish I'd have kept the boxes now too!
