Q:
I just recently won a .270wsm. In a Remington 700. I dont like the price tag of the shells, so going to be reloading soon. I have been shooting the 130gr Rem core-lokt. So going to be using Rem brass. Any suggestions on a decent load? Looking for personal experience with the caliber

So far 62.5 grains of RL22 with a 130 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip/Winchester brass/Federal 215 match primer has been working for me. This seems to mostly duplicate performance in my gun of the factory Federal Premium load with the same 130 BT.

The Nosler manual starts at 61 grains of RL22 with a published velocity of 3222. They list 65.0 grains of RL22 as max load/97% density/3396 velocity. The halfway point, 63.0 grains is what they list as their most accurate load with that powder - 3301 FPS/94% load density. I stopped just short of that since I was tightening near 3/4" groups with a little less powder. Your results may vary from mine. I wasn't trying to set the land speed record, just trying to come close to the factory load's performance.

FWIW, they list IMR4350 as the most accurate powder tested. My local sources have been all out of that and I want to try that next. I hate to mess with success. It is a fair amount slower. I also have some RL17 and want to try working it up.

I Have a 270wsm and fond that IMR4350 works great I the nosler book for 130gr nosler Balistic tip max load is 63.0gr's gave me .450 inch group. 140gr nosler accubond max load was 60.5gr's gave me .453 inch group. I have tride other powders but keep going bake to the IMR4350. Make shure you use a magnum primer like Fed 215M or remington 91/2M I use the 215M. Start there and you wont go rong. P.S. you should start about a 1 or 2 gran's below that and work up to those loads.

Clarification: when I said IMR4350 was slower, I meant in velocity. It is actually a slightly faster burning powder than RL22.

What rifle are you shooting? Sounds like you have the load hooked up good.
