Both excellent choices. It would probably come down to price and fit and feel. For what its worth, I shoot a savage and love it.
I have a savage 111 chambered in .270...killed a doe tonight with it actually. Great gun!
Not do downplay the Remington 700 ADL...given the choice, if I had the money I would probably go with the Remington, but the Savage 111 tends to be a bit cheaper with comparable accuracy.
I would choose the 111. Overall better value IMHO.
I have both rifles in different calibers, and the Remington fits me better and has a slicker action. Both are very accurate. You won't go wrong either way, it's just a matter of price.
The Savage 111 is likely to be more accurate and it has a better trigger and that may count for a lot depending on how you plan to use it. The Rem 700 ADL will be similar in accuracy (should be the same if you glass bed the stock) but I prefer the feel of the action on the 700. I would get the 700 myself and glass bed it but either one is a mighty fine deer rifle.
I'll take a Savage every day of the week. If you have a little extra $ upgrade to a Savage 114.
I don't care for the detachable magazine feature on the Savage, and I don't believe that model comes with the AccuTrigger. I'll go with the Remington.
99ex, They all come with the accutrigger with the exception of the Stevens 200.
actually not all savages come with the accutrigger, at least not at my local cabelas
Odd??? apparently Savage has changed some stuff around. I found that the 11/111 "package series" (Hunter XP) does indeed come without the accutrigger??? Although the 11/111 model if purchased as a rifle alone still comes with the accutrigger. Odd that they would do that.
