nosler partitions shoot the best of ammo ive tried in my rifle so far. but how good are they as far as penetration and expansion are concered? how big of game can i use them on?
Nosler Partitions are a old and very successful controlled expansion bullet. I have used them since the late sixty's and have never had one in any caliber fail. There are many new excellent bullets but the Nosler Partitions will continue to perform perfectly for many years to come.
Nosler partitions are conidered to be one of the best bullets available for hunting penetration and can be used effectively on any game in North America.
It's my understanding that Nosler partitions have been around for over 30 years. To compare I was using a 150 grain Federal classic round, I shot a 160 lb Black Tail buck at 100 yds with my 270 win. The buck was standing broadside. The bullet hit behind the shoulder, double lunged the deer and did'nt pass completely threw. The next year using 150 grain Nosler partitions in the same rifle, I shot a 160 lb Muley standing broadside at 330 yards, the bullet passed threw both shoulder blades with outstanding controlled expansion.I'm hooked!
They are excellent but I have switched to the
Barnes TSX and TTSX bullets. They have higher ballistic coefficients, expand and penetrate just as well, contain no lead and leave no lead fragments in the meat. Price is about the same for Barnes or Nosler partitions.
I shoot Nosler 120 grain Partitions and 100 graing Barnes TSX in my .257 Roberts for deer, but they don't shoot as well in some of my other rifles. I prefer the Barnes TSX or TTSX in other rifles for accuracy and complete penetration.

180 gr. Partitions shoot extremely well from my '06. They are what the old timers say 'tried and true'.
You can use them on anything you want, they will hold toghether and get the job done.
I wouldn't give it a second thought in shooting an Elk with my 25-06 with 120 grain Nosler Partitions!
