Q:
VINTAGE BULLETS I recently acquired some vintage .300 Weatherby cartridges that are 180 grain Soft Points. They are similar to some vintage 180 grain Weatherby loads that I saw on Gunbroker. They have a scribed ring/shallow groove about 3/16ths of an inch ahead of the cannelure as do the ones shown on Gunbroker. Does anyone know what kind of bullets they might be. They are factory loads not reloads. Original box is gone.

Wam. I belive they are Hornady bullets, I have some old factory rounds for my 7mm and that is what they are loaded with.

That's what I suspect since they are shaped like an Interlock. What would that shallow groove be for? Limiting expansion/peel of the jacket?

Looked at Hornady website and the 180 gr SP Interlock has a groove in it! Other .30 cal weights don't. I know it is a 180 gr because I pulled one and weighed it!

Thanks!
