Win 30-30, Win 70 270 WSM or Savage 25-06, depending on the area and weather.

from BioGuy wrote 1 year 43 weeks ago

depends on where I'm hunting. If I'm in the timbers, I'll use a .30-30. For fields and open areas, I use a .260 Remington.

It will kill dangerous predators and anything smaller.

idduckhntr 22-250 to 338 Win Mag pending on my mood!

lure, you will have to research that one yourself my Friend.

I like the 25-06 the best, it's like crossing a 22-250 with a 270 and is the smallest recommended cartridge for Elk, so it has plenty of steam and fantastic for annoying critters at long range.

7mm-08? I'm going to be nice today

Favorite is the 25-06 for most situations.
.35 Rem or .375 H&H in the thick trash.
.300 Dakota for shots over 600 yards.

1. Ruger 77 in .270, for early alpine hunts where the range might run over 200 yards.
2. Remington 788 carbine in 7mm-08, for mid to late season hunts in good weather.
3. Winchester model 64 in 30-30 for thick stuff and rainy days.
Our deer seldom run over 150 lbs live weight so you don't need a powerhouse round. Sometimes when we hunt Kodiak Island the Ruger 77 in .338 Win Mag goes.

Ruger Ultralight .257 Roberts, Marlin 336 .35 Remington, Remington 788 .308 Win, Interarms Mk X 7mm Remington Magnum, once in great while a Ruger 77 in .300 Win Mag but not too often. If putting on drives, the first three, if watching the open fields, usually the 7mm. E~WV

Depends on how im feeling and where i want to hunt...close range(under 50 yards) or stalking i like to use either my bow, or a pump action .20 gauge with slugs...medium range(up to 200 yards) its my bolt action .30-06, and long range (200+ yards) ill take the .300 weatherby...but my go to deer rifle is the .30-06 its the best compromise for speed of shooting and stopping power
