I will know for sure in about 3 days, because my nephew bought one in 7mm08.We have the dies, rings and he got a ziess conquest to top it off.I had him order the BarnesTSX 120gr. to try first.I had told him to look at all the above guns as well plus the Tika3.He still just liked the feel and fit of the xBolt for him.I've never had a problem with any Browning gun,so we have high hopes for his new gun.The number of bucks he has seen taken and shooting groups he has seen my old A/Bolt make no doubt had alot to do with his choice.Mine is a 30/06 and from the time I first began hunting with it I had a record of 19 withtail bucks taken before I missed cleanly the 20th.All this was over a number of years.I'm working my way back now but it's much harder now because I shoot a number of differant guns.I don't write this to brag but to tell others to take pride in picking their shots and hunting skill, not in the number of shots taken.
I think the X-Bolts are nice rifles, but you can buy 2.5 Savage's with plastic trigger and bottom "metal" for that price. The finish on them is excellent and if they are like A-Bolts, pretty darn good shooters too.
If I were spending $850 for a rifle, I would buy a good used Weatherby Mark V in that caliber. You might even find one new for a couple bucks more with the plain synthetic stock. Like the sign on the auto junk yard sez: "We all drive with used parts". Likewise, we all hunt with used rifles. Weatherby will repair or replace anything that won't shoot 1 1/2" groups. I personally would never spend that kind of money on any rifle with plastic parts. JMHO
dude just go to the closest gun shop and check em out! they're more badass than alot of other bolt rifles...and no dont listen to this guy IanS about getting a tikka t3. i have 2 tikka t3's and they're nothing special.savages are accurate but alot of these people on here who reccomended them prolly never held an xbolt or dry fired it.i also have 2 A-bolts and they're not as good as my xbolt.i shot my 5x6 muley with mine and a month later i got a 7x7 rossevelt bull. just get it! you wont be disappointed! AT ALL!

Sounds good, but I'd look at the new savages.
Savage, Marlin, and Weatherby are all less money and you could get a custom made from ER Shaw for $850 or less.
you could get a new savage with an acutriger for less...around $700. and 25-06 is a good choice in caliber
Can't speak for the X-Bolt but the 25-06 is hot! I've shot a lot of rifles and MUST have a 25-06 for serious hunting.
I have read that the Browning X-bolt has a plastic magazine and a plastic trigger guard. That is enough to turn me off.

I personally would choose an A Bolt, save your self about 300 bucks and have just as good a rifle.
I'd get a Savage. Cheaper, more accurate, made in the USA. To each his own, though.
thanks for the answer guys, its still a toss up and im still going to do some more research
If you're gonna spen $850 get a Tikka T3.
