I want a gun that is good for coyotes that doesn't destroy the pelt and a gun that can bring down a deer. Any suggestions on what brand and what caliber?

I use a 22-250 with a 55 grain Hornady Soft Point W/C and it works fantastic! 25-06 with a 100 grain might work OK, either way your still going to have a hole in Ol'Yodel Dog!
The 25-06 is an excellent rifle for coyotes and deer. The .22s are good for coyotes too but they are on the low end for deer. An 87 grain bullet doesn't ruin fur any worse than the others. Most pass through with a dime sized exit hole... very good out to 600 yards.
The .22 mag would be great for Coyotes, my Nephew uses one for Bobcats and Coyotes in West Texas with no problem, but if you plan on taking a deer with the same rifle, be sure to check the game laws in your State, because in Texas it's against the law to use ANY rimfire ammunition of any kind to take deer.
I'd agree with Mr. Cooper about the 22-250. It shoots fast, flat and fairly clean.
I know in Saskatchewan min deer caliber is 23 so as far as I know that is a 243.
I have a Tikka T3 270 and it is awsome. I have shot a couple coyotes with it and it hasen't destroyed the hide but a 243 would probably suit you better.
I really like my 223 for coyotes because of minimal pelt damage but if you are hunting deer at same time chek regs. I use my 25=06, or 3006 if hunting both as 223 is not legal here for big game.
got one hyphenation for you mosin-nagant. look for one with a clean bore and youll be set. accurate enough to hit a yote in the eye at 100 yards and enough power to knock dow a deer with one shot. you might be looking for a while though.

GOOD LUCK ON THAT! LOL!!!!!!!!!!

As Clay said, the .22-250 is taylor made for coyotes, as is a .222, .223, or .243. A .22 mag is good inside 100 yds too.
I would go with a remington model 700 in a 243. Strong enough to take down a deer but wont detroy the hide of a coyote.

i would say that youd be better off getting 2 different guns, but a .243 will work for both.
missed the part of the question about deer. So i revise my answer to the .243win, though the .22-250 is also adequate for GOOD shooters
I know a .223 is legal in wisconsin for deer, and that is a small enough caliber to not damage a pelt.
25-06 75 grian for yotes 120 grian for deer works great for me
neuman23 has it right especially for WI .223 is what I use when I go to the woods to call coyotes. I can't actually call it hunting.

As far as killing both, I would go with a .243. I wouldn't want to go to much smaller for deer and this is on the larger side for coyote.
22-250 would be a great choice for your need.
Ruger 25-06

Just letting you know i did get a 22-250 for Christmas so watch out coyotes and deer!
