All i know is what i've heard and read. The Icon gets Rave reviews. Seems look a good purchase you're making. I'd look at a Kimber if i were buying anything other than a Budget gun personally, but everyones wish list is their own. Good luck with it. Post a review after you shoot it.
My guess is that the regular Icon is very close to being just as accurate as this one. Get a lighter, less expensive gun with the same features and quality/performance.
i used to have an icon, i got better accuracy from a rem 700. my wife has one chambered in .243 win and i can touch 3 shots together at 100 with 100 gr gamekings and 95 grain ballistic tips over vv n560 powder. They can be very accurate, and they can be very tempermental (like anything I suppose.) I've always been able to count on remington for accuracy. I also like the way the action functions. The icon's action isn't nearly as smooth as i like them. I also have trouble getting cartridges to feed well in them...but i'm told they fixed that with the precision hunter. Bolt operation is hard and clumsy...to me anyway.
Have you shot an Icon?
No, I haven't shot one...but I have hunted with my father-in-law's rem 700 the last few years and I have nothing bad to say about that gun, it's a great shooter.
TC Precision Hunter is great riffle to shoot; I got my in .308 two weeks ago, already got tired of shooting SUB 0.5 MOA at 100 yards moved my target to 300, still get SUB MOA, but 500 yards proved to me more challenging, so far this riffle held 2.17” at 500 yards, I guess its not the riffle its my 9x scope, now I’m looking for something in 18X – 24X category.
I own an original .308 Icon purchased in 2007. After the break-in period it shoots under .5 moa consistently with match grade ammunition. I purchased a Precision Hunter and so far it doesn't shoot as well as the original Icon with the 24-inch barrel. I will clean the barrel really well and then do some testing. My guess is the best 22-inch barrels get set aside for the Warlords but that is conjecture. Certainly both of these Icons shoot better than anything I've ever shot. I am a former SWAT officer and the original Icon shoots as well as custom sniper rifles with 5 times the price tag.

I have personally never shot this gun but I know its a beautiful quality gun, and everybody that does own one has nothing negative to say.

See the article in the new Gun World, (April), issue, page 22 on the .308 version, highly rated with CorBon ammo and a Redfield Revolution scope.
Agreed with Jinx and + 1 for you sir!!!
