Ruger 10/22 is most accurate if you replace the existing barrel with a bull barrel.
hjohn429 is right. I use the "green mtn. barrel" and it's a "tack driver" literaly.
I have a remington 597 and love it. I put a 4x20 scope on it and it shoots accuratly.
Love my Ruger 10/22, bull barrel is a must if you are looking for accuracy.
The 10/22! yes the bull barrel is a must but the gun is extremly accurate. you cant go wrong with the Ruger 10/22.
Ruger 10\22, a Rem., or a Marlin.
If you're goin for tack drivin accuracy, stay away from the 597. The best group i've gotten is about 1" @ 20 yds. Not great in my book.
I don't have a Remington 597 in 22 long rifle ,but I do have one in 22 Magnum and it is a very good shooter. With Winchester 30 gr. supreme ammo it will shoot 5 shot 100 yard groups of 7/8". The same gun will shoot Win.40 jhp into 1 1/8". I have 3 10/22 and one is a pretty good shooter, and all of them are very dependable. I used to let young kids learn to shoot with these three rifles and they are virtually trouble free.
Ruger 10/22 hands down, and their cheap too!
Agreed with climate_zero and + 1 for you sir!!!
ruger 10/22 u can go for a bull barell but its still acurate with out one
