Its a matter of opinion.
The best lever action .22 rimfire, in my opinion, is the Marlin 39AS. The next option is no longer in production, the Winchester 9422. The third, the Ruger Model 96/22, if you can find one.
Thanks I understand and agree it should be about opinion but honestly I have no preferences. Im just looking for a quality gun, good for years to come.
Wow Ed that Marlin is a beautiful gun! I actually have a single shot Marlin. I think a little out of my price range though, what could you actually find one of those for?
Henry Rifles in 22 caliber are awesome, I bought one with my dad when I turned 10 years old, I have put thousands upon thousands of rounds through that gun and it is still going strong.
I have a Henry 22 and I couldn't be happier.
See those are more in my range. thanks guys
Marlin 39A - The "Grown Man's Twenty-two!"
I would love to have a Marlin 39A but a Henry is probably what i will end up with, i just really dont have the money.
henry golden boy or just a regular henry
Take a look at the Henry rifle, they make a great gun for the money. You can also get an oversized loop (the "Riflemen") for it, which makes it both cool & fun.
Take a look at Lincoln's Henry rifle in the Smithsonian if you get a chance.
The Marlin 39A I've shot since 1977 is still going strong. Bought it brand new for around one hundred to one hundred and twenty five dollars. It is simply the most accurate .22 I have had or currently own. Take down and cleaning is easy and with that long tube under the barrel it will hold quite abit.
With a 1x4.5 scope sitting on top I shot a feral dog through the left eye at about twenty-five yards. The dog never moved. It and another feral had chased a young five or six year old girl the day before. The Mom killed the other one.
Find out which kind of .22 cartridge your rifle will shoot. I sighted mine in with Eley .22 short. I still have a few left.
I do not have any experience with Henry Rifles but they are American made and I have always heard and read nice reports about their product. The Browning lever action is nice as well. I shot one a few years but it wasn't like the Marlin.
Im hoping its a henry 22lr lever action. Thats what I just laid away at walmart.
I have had expierience with Henry .22s and not only are they beautiful guns, but they also shoot great. they are affordable and well made in the .USA
