pop cans filled with water, old school notebooks/folders, they make breakable targets like clay pigeons, and once a couple co2 cartridges (not recommended)

Clay targets and balloons! We have a very large open hill side on one piece of my property. This is a very steep hill and rarely get morning sun. Grass doesn't grow very well here and it's perfect for safe shooting. From one end to the other is about 500-600 yards. My sons takes the atv and randomly places these targets all over the hill and we take turns shooting at each one. It's some tough to shoot at 250 yards with a 22 rimfire but a great deal of fun. It's a whole lot easier with the 22-250 all the way out to the far reaches of the hill!!!

pine cones, hickory nuts, small pieces of quarts, one thing that is a lot of fun is set up some .223 casings at around 30 yards and shoot them.

used containers of liquids then refill them with water and shoot away for real fun take something like a unopened pop can and shoot. it will spray out wherever you shot and is fun to see who can put the most holes in there can with a ten round clip as a challenge.

Clay birds and balloons make great targets, especially at distance. Its one thing to put tight group on paper, but there is something more satisfying about smashing clays or popping balloons.

Empty shotgun hulls, stale cookies and crakers are good birds like the remains, any tin cans forget glass bottles.

Golf balls, baseballs and softballs. Clay pigeons, full pop cans and paper targets. I bought a heavy metal target at Gander Mountain this weekend. Can't wait to try it out.

I shoot coke cans filled with water. Also I like to shoot golf balls and bowling pins. A bowling pin will take several hundred rounds of 22 before going down. Eggs are also great targets! Another fun (but not recommended) thing to do is put a candle next to a can of Axe spray deoderent. When you shoot the can, it sprays onto the candle and ignites. This will give you a real quick fireball and a cool noise.

Punch a hole in an old tennis ball and hang it from a limb.

Frozen jugs of water (they will last an entire shoooting session), eggs, gophers, tennis balls, copenhagen lids. I used to like shooting blank CD's... you can see them way, way out there on a sunny day, but are a pain to clean up.

Necco wafers, ping-pong balls, balloons, ripe fruits & veggies, pop cans suspended by string or fishing line, clay targets, etc.. My son and I bring trash bags to clean up the area after our practice session.

One of the funnest things for me is to tape a match to your regular paper target, and place the head just below the bullseye so when you shoot a 10, it will light the match on fire, really fun, and a pretty good challenge as well. Also try shooting out a lit candle, don't hit the wick though, it's really fun, give it a try

gatorade jugs are good. the plastic is tough and you get a good "whack" as conformation of a hit. lay the bottle on it's side and shoot the lid. most of the time the round does not leave the bottle.

Libertyfirst, I might recommend filling the pumpkins with the jello and chilling em till it sets. You don't even have to scoop em out, just cut the top as for a jackolantern and fill with boiling jello and ice. I haven't tried using dry ice to set the jello, but I'd bet it would be bitchen. Jello filled punkins go BLOOUIE in a delightful way!. Try a watermelon like the Gunny does, it would hold more jello.
