Q:
A bow hunter was struck by a stray bullet on Nov. 12 in upper Michigan. He's in critical condition. From nearby targets and shell casings police think the bullet was from people sighting in their rifles. A few years ago I ran into a family target shooting while several grouse hunters and dogs (including me) were in the area behind the tree they were shooting at. There is a reason target shooting is prohibited in some areas during hunting season. Please shoot with a solid backstop and report those that lack any sense.

A drunk driver will kill a whole family and the news mentions it, a hunter does something stupid with a gun and CNN will do exclusive and Nancy Grace will call the whole town. Come on people, be smarter and make us all look better than the everybody else makes us out to be. Hope the hunter is ok and they catch the people who slept through hunters safety.

ther is a reason that target shooting is illegal on public and state lands during hunting season in most states. this is why we need more funding for wildlife officers. where exactly is our money going?

That isn't upper michigan by the way, that's lower michigan. I knew people up here weren't that dumb to be target shooting and not know their background.

Dittos MLH as deer firearm deer seasons approach some the idiots seem to come out of the woodwork.
Go to a range to do your target practice.
If there is not one in your area - get together some fellow hunters and shooters and form one.
