Just stick with a standerd Foster or rifled slug and you will do fine have a great season.

Chech the choke before throwing slugs through it.

Very nice gift. A real classic and one of the greats. Congrats! I bet your uncle is glad to see you are asking the right questions on what to use with it.

Congratulations! My late wife killed many deer with her 20 ga Ithaca. Cheap Rem slugs are extremely accurate in those guns. My wife's was a mod choke and it was deadly. Under 100 yds you have a gun that will put meat on the table for you for the rest of your life. You do have a "great" uncle.

Nice Gift. I would use a sabot slug if the barrel is a smoothbore. Take good care of it and clean it often and it will last another 50 years

silvertung you can shoot slugs from a full choke with no ill efects unless its a turkey choke, I have shot them through alot of my guns with full chokes from very thing and up to my Pigeon grade M12 trap gun, so I say this to you matt man I hope you get to harvest a deer with a very fine shotgun good luck.

I had the same gun except mine was a 12 ga. My first shotgun. I always just used remington sluggers.make sure you take out the choke.

Be carefull about which slugs you use. Federal used to hang up upon ejection with my wife's gun. Win & Rem's were ok. I still take my old Ithaca w/slug barrel to Ak with me as my bear gun when I go fishing. Good luck matt.
