Q:
I recently acquired a new 410 for my collection. Its not listed as a 45-410. I have a few friends that tell me that the 410 and 45 are interchangable ammo. Any opinions on this! I know they make a 45-410. Does it have to be made specific for that reason?

There are pistols called the "Judge" by Taurus that shoot both410 & 45 Long Colt, shotguns are not generally made to withstand the pressure of a pistol or rifle cartridge. So I would not.

I think Moishe is right. Your 410 probably doesn't have a rifled barrel either. If not, you wouldn't want to use it for bullets anyway. BTW, the "Judge" is a big bad@$$--not exactly what most people want as a concealed carry weapon, but it would scare the crap out of a burgler.

It is possible to fire a .45 through a .410 shotgun, but it isnt a safe practice.

Some rifles/shotguns (H&R, for example) and one revolver (Judge) are made for both, but this one isn't unless it says so on the barrel or receiver.

NO!! 410 IS LOW PRESSURE, 45,70 IS MUCH HIGHER--IF IT IS NOT A JUDGE REVOLVER, OR IN THE SAME CLASS, YOU WILL PULL THE TRIGGER ONCE---NO--NONE OF THE 410 BREAK OPEN SHOTGUNS CAN , OR WERE EVER INTENDED TO FIRE 45.70.
DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT.
