i dont see the point in cammo guns any ways turkeys ducks geese deer anything wont care if your weapon is cammo or not . and they haven't cared for hundreds of years .
I agree with you lefthanded but i like camo guns sometimes just cause they look cool. I'll probably only have a few in my life time since i perfer wood stocks since thats how a gun is supposed to look. But i dont mind guys that use camo guns if they think it helps then so it be it as long as i get my animal im happy. Happy hunting
Ive seen one on a show once that was blaze orange cammo, that was a thar hunt slug gun really looked cool but, alas im a boring old fashion wood stock type of fellow. not to run away with the post but what about them pistol grip stocks with the wild colors in them.
My turkey gun is as camoflaged as I can get it, but the rest of my long guns are black plastic or wood. I think a gun with a good wood stock is a thing of beauty, but the black plastic takes hard usage better.
Santa has promised me a new rifle for Christmas. It will be hand checkered walnut with ebony accents. My great grand kids will cherish it as a family heirloom long after I'm gone. I still consider firearms an American art form, not just mere tools.
I personally think that camo guns look ridiculous, but I have no problem with anyone else's choice of finish on his firearms, including hot pink. Whatever rocks your boat!
My son and I are currently shopping for a rifle as a gift to him. It pains me when I hear him want a composite stock. He is afraid of scuffing up a nice wood finish. Wood is so much prettier.
I don't like those colorful pistol grips...they just don't look good. As for camo guns, I really like them, they are useful for turkey and waterfowl and they serve as a pretty good utility color, your usually not to worried about scuffing up a camo paint job because it almost adds to it.
I agree with country road. An all camo gun makes sense when Turkey or Duck hunting. Other than that it's just personal preference and probably doesn't help.
but do ducks and turkeys really see it ? i wouldent think so i was told that if you dont move your gun around their going to think nothing of it because it will look like a branch or something . i have a cammo gun but not by choice and theirs paint missing from grouse hunting and my stock turned orange/brown .
Black is usually cheaper. Besides that, a shotgun has a pretty small profile when its pointed at a bird. It won't notice unless you move or the gun goes bang.
So what's uglier, a beat up wood stock or a beat up synthetic one? All my shotguns except my 870 Super Mag are wood stocked. The 870 SM is homemade spray painted cause it was rusting due to finish wear. It looks as good as any of the storebought camo jobs. Don't lay it down! All my rifles except the Weatherby's have wood stocks. Beekeeper or Del can tell you how beat the .35 Whelen wood is.

I prefer wood as well. The best camo stocks i've seen are home-made(spray painted?). I see no need for name-brand hi-def camo on a rifle.

I don't like them but I think they can help for turkeys, coyotes, and some waterfowl situations, especially wary ducks in timber.

i love wood on my guns. all of my guns (besides a few bb guns) are wood but i would rather have a camo stock over a plain black synthetic stock.

If I ever owned a camo gun I'd be afraid that I'd lay it down and never find it again.

i just bought a new benelli nova in max 4 camo and i seen a supernova black for 530 and this nova was 500 it was cheaper
Good point lefthanded. My 870 Express with it's dull finish seems to do just fine and doesn't seem to spook game.
Black is usually cheaper. Besides that, a shotgun has a pretty small profile when its pointed at a bird. It won't notice unless you move or the gun goes bang.
I've really banged up a wood stock before, so I prefer synthetic.
Camo has got a real 'cool factor', but I still use black.
for turkey hunting i would use a camo gun. but for Whitetail deer hunting i use a black synthetic .243 WIN.
My biggest gripe with synthetic stocks is that they make a louder sound when knocked against something while stalk hunting.

I love the look of walnut and stainless steel.
