I use either my Remington Premier STS Competition o/u that has had the stock customized or my Remington 1100 Premier Sporting 12.

The 1100 kicks a lot less so I tend to use it more.

I like my Browning Model 2000 12Ga its the softest
recoiling Shotgun ever, I dont have inter changing Chokes I chang Barrles, one for up-land/skeet Mod/Ck.
one for Trap/Ducks with Hi/vent rib Full/Ck,and one for slugs W/sights....in its day(1983) for the one gun hunter....Lol.....The Trap Bbl.is a 3" Chamber.
But for todays Skeet/Trap Man I would go for the Franchi
48AL Deluxe!

I bought a Benelli for the recoil system for shooting sporting clays and hunting with.

If there is a day when I can become great at it, I'll look into an O/U so that I can have more choke freedom with separate barrels.

Jerry A got it right, the one you never miss with, and, odds are, it ain't a Browning 2000 or any Benelli.
Based on what's available today, Beretta, Browning, Winchester or Remington (not the VersaMax) all have good products to offer.
I broke a lot of skeet targets in the 70's and 80's with an 1100D 4 gun set. Easy to fix and very reliable. Face it, the volume serious clay target shooters put through a gun, something is gonna break and you better be able to fix it in 5 minutes if your in a tournament. For that, the 1100 fit the bill.
My present day choice is the Browning Maxus, I have two, a sporting edition and a black synthetic for hunting.
