how many shells can you put through a mossberg 500 before the barrel goes to heck? i do a fairly good job of cleaning it after shooting

Shotgun barrels do not generally ever wear out, they may rust,get pitted or blow up from over pressure from overloading, but not wear yout.

Had a buddy shoot 100,000 rounds through a Berreta autoloader in one year, and it keeps on tickin.

The other part of that is we are talkin lead, I think. I'll bet steel ruins a choke in not too long of time unless the choke is open, at least a modified at the tightest.

Knew a fellow that ruined a good Browning by shooting steel through a full choke.
