Q:
I have an Ithaca M-37 problem.
I purchased a used Ithaca m-37 deer slayer. It’s a 1970 gun in great condition (little use). When I took it out to sight in with slugs, after each shot the action opened up slightly (2-inches, the slide came back part way but the shell was not ejected) but no gas escaped. To confuse the issue, I have a regular field barrel for it (28" modified) and with regular field loads (2 3/4 number 6 lead) the gun operates normally. (i.e. the action stays closed until I shuck a new round) I called Ithaca and they said to send them the gun. Before I go to the extra expense of shipping the gun does anyone have any ideas of the broken part or other???
Thanks!

I dont know if a part is busted on your ithaca, but i can tell you that the same thing happens on my deerslayer 2. i always thought the slide came back part way because of the immense recoil of the slugs i was shooting. great gun tho. killed a bunch of deer with it out to 80-90 yards. anybody else know????

The make Ithaca's in Upper Sandusky OH. You can ship the gun U.S. mail. Get it fixed before you get injured.
