Q:
OK, so i just stripped the stock of my mossberg model 600 AT and oiled (RE FINISHED)it with 2 parts linseed oil and one part turpentine/paint thinner. i put on over 7 coats, but the stock is still a very light color and i want it to be darker, as it was when the stock was varnished. is there some chemical i could spread over the stock or some trick to make the stock darker, as if it was varnished? I DO NOT WANT TO RE-STRIP THE STOCK FOR A SECONT TIMEthanks for your help, all.

You are asking a lot from a stain when you apply the finish first. As a last resort, you might consider using a torch (no joke) to darken the wood with vertical passes to simulate a tiger-tail finish.
Sorry, but that's the best I can come up with.

Torch would just bubble up the seven coats of finish leaving the stock looking a mess. Guess you should have figured this was a bust after coat one?

youve got to stain the stock first then apply the finish... the stain is what darkens it, not the oil
