Q:
Im looking to buy a new shotgun. I want one that will be great to use no matter what i feel like hunting that day from deer, pheasant, rabbit, squirrel, ducks, fox, or geese. I kinda have it narrowed down to the Remington 870 super mag waterfowl, the remington 11-87 sportsman camo, and the benelli supernova, Does anyone have any tips on which to get? Can you get a rifled camo barrel for the 870?

If it will help you narrow down the range of choices, a pump shotgun will give you fewer problems than a semi-auto, which requires more maintenance, with frequent cleaning and lubrication to prevent stoppages.

i'd go with a pump and im an 870 man myself, i not sure they make them (camo rifled barrels) but you could get one camo dipped pretty cheap if u really want one though.

I would go with the 870 myself. It easier to clean, and I like pump guns better.

Since you want to use it for everything, I would go 870.

870 would be my choice, pump guns can take alot of use and abuse before they stop working where as your semi auto variety wont take as much. I looked and couldnt find a camo rifled barrel for the 870 not saying one dosn't exist but as mentioned above you can get it done after.

I shoot an 870 too and am very happy with it. I used to shoot a Rem 1100 and a Browning and got the 870 for real rough hunting. I liked it so much, I use it all the time and got rid of the others. Camo barrels are hard to find for an 870 but may exist. I didn't see any in obvious places either but you can get it camoed reasonably if necessary. My gun is a blued Wingmaster with nice wood and I wrap it with camo tape if the game cares. I use it natural for pheasant, quail, and blind hunting. I use the 3" chamber because that is the largest shell I ever intend to shoot. Just get the Rem Choke. I use my regular barrel for slug hunting. It is accurate enough to bag deer within a hundred yards.

Well i'm goin against the grain here but I'de go with a Supernova. Had mine for 4 years and have had no problems and i haven't cleaned near as often as i should. I went without cleaning for two duck seasons and nothing ever jammed.

There is a lot of good information above. This is coming from someone who has owned and shot an 870. I just bought a brand-new Benelli Nova, based on 50 years of bird-hunting experience. They are in a class by themselves. They are light. It is extremely easy to work the action. They work every time. There was really not a realistic option.

870 for me I have a 16Ga. Made in 1961 that has NEVER given me a problem, the wood is nice too.

I've owned an 870 and an 11-87, both are very good. I have had few probems with the 11-87 and noen with the 870. From a dependability standpoint I suggest a pimp shot gun as they have fewer parts to fail. The pump is also easier to take apart and clean.
