I purchase a 20 guage side by side made by CZ USA. I love it and it's under $1000. actually about $800. The case hardened steel look is classic. Side lock and tooling look good for the price compared to other guns in the price range.

Trapper Vic is that a true sidelock or does it have sideplates to simulate a sidelock. I've been reading about fine shotguns and from what I've read a sidelock is expensive, so at under $1k I find it hard to believe it's a sidelock. Probably a boxlock with sideplates?

Lock extends out at side when its broke open. Other than that i was told it was side lock!

Oh Vic, my bad. You might be talking about the CZ with external hammers?

Whoops there I go again. Looks as though there are some true sidelock sxs from CZ, at least I'm seeing folks writing about them on forums. Well, I'd say for $800 you got a good gun.

I was going to recommend getting a CZ as well. Seems to be a popular choice. They are well made and I like the tooling and fit and finish on most of their products.
