Q:
Just wanted to share that my brother just called and told he shot his first bear!! Got lucky and saw it as soon as he walked in the woods. Was just getting the dog out to take him for a walk and walked up on one. Congrats to him!!

Good for him! I remember my first bear, I was so pumped I had to sit down and settle down for 20 minutes before we dressed it.
Just curious what did he use to harvest his bear? Im a big fan of the old Lee enfield .303 on black bear.I mostly use 180grain soft point winchester ammo through my .303 for bear and have had no complaints.

Shot it with a Marlin 30/30 (my family rifle of choice; about all of us have one). He plans on getting a mount done.
