No, I have never hunted with him, nor do I know anyone who has. Have spoken with Mark several times, he is much more appealing in person than on his videos. Would I hunt with him? Sure, if he was in an area with animals I was looking for. I am very area/species driven.

Thanks, on his videos he comes across as cocky and arogent and some of the things he does just dont make sense to a sane person but when a guy packs a cannon like that what hell.

I understand your thoughts. His " Dr Death " videos may be intriguing to some, but if you have hunted quite a bit they leave one scratching one's head. However, they have helped make him famous and hopefully a little money. I came from the school, a clean stalk and a clean kill. Try not to put your trackers or others in in a sticky situation

That philosophy does not always work. So why start out behind the eight ball when hunting dangerous game?

According to his book I quote " Marcel Thys & Sons Best Grade 600 Nitro Express double rifle. Sidelock, richly engraved with Cape buffalo elephant and rhino, gold trim, 24 inch barrels, ejector, 13 1/2 pounds. Serial number 0186."

Claims it is worth it's weight in gold, has saved his life many times. Shoots a 900 grain bullet at 2000 feet per second. To shoot it well one must possess great desire.

Tried to convince my wife to get me a Chapius 470 Nitro for our 5th year anniversery. I was told no, dont even know what I would do with it I think its a little to much gun for Idaho but you never know maybe one day I'll get to go to the Dark Continent.

I sold my first double to finance a trip to Zambia. That rifle has now doubled in value, but the Zambian Safari has more than quadrupled in cost. Keep the African dream, it will be worth the wait. It is one adventure women usually enjoy. Even my wife likes to go once in awhile and she is a complete nonhunter
