Welcome aboard. I own three. I'm not really a Savage enthusiast--it just worked out that way. I particularly like my .308 Model 10 with a BSA Panther 10x50 scope.
I have the model 10 in a .243 from about 12 years ago. I believe this was right when Savage was beginning to get their s**t in a group. I put a Burris Banner 6-18x50 scope on top. I caught a lot of crap for getting the Savage at that time. To this day, with a scope that's not much about garbage, it shoots sub 1/2" groups at 150 time and again. And that's with my bipod, no bench rest. The whole package is well under $500 and it is a real competitor. I should swap out that heavy trigger for the new accutrigger and it would be a sweet tac-driver.
I'll will give you guys a test report when I get it and you know I'm really give it the acid test! What my Brother Dale has the Model with the laminated thumb hole stock and he says it's the most accurate rifle he has!
As a 2nd Generation High Power Shooter, I expect this Savage MZ Model 10MLBS-II to exceed all my expectations!!!
Thot I would never own one either. Now I'm waiting for my ER Shaw rifle built on Savage action. Been hearing for years that Savage builds accurate rifles.

I've got two Savage rifles, one in 300 Savage and the other in 22-250. Both have served me well and will probally someday get another.
Clay -you mean to tell us you bought a firearm and it wasn't a 22-250 - Pure heresy I say!
Just kidding. Know a couple of folks with that one. Excellent shootin' iron.
