Cosmetically yes, especially with a nice-figured walnut stock on a carbine.

I really like the looks of them, but many say they aren't the best for accuracy. I haven't ever shot one though.

I bought a Mannlicher stock from Bishop stocks years ago and fitted it onto a Remington 600 Mohawk .308. I replaced the plastic floorplate and trigger guard with a steel one that I made and the project came out pretty nice. Then came along something that I wanted more and I traded the gun. I have been looking for the gun for the last 15 or 20 years trying to find it. I would like to have it back. It shot outstanding.

I'm going to start my custom Mauser this spring and I am going to use one. I love the looks of them! Very classy looking in my opinion.

Yes. It is a hunting rifle and if used for such its accuracy is good enough. I would love a Rem model 7 w/ mannlicher stock from their custom shop in the tried and true classic 7x57 Mauser. Hell of a lot nicer gun then those black tactical rifles coming out right now.

The Mannlicher or full-length stock is aesthetically pleasing and compliments a rifle or carbine with an 18.5 to 22-inch barrel. Two of my favorites were a Ruger #1 RSI in 7x57mm and a Remington Model 7 with laminated stock in .250-3000. Nothing left of them but the photos now, but they were beautiful to my eyes!

I agree with Tree: The Mannlicher-Schoenauer carbine, with its butterknife bolt handle and internal rotary magazine was a work of art. I'm told it was a stocksmith's nightmare for inletting, but it was (is) a beauty.

99explorer, Sarge, Treestand, Krusty, wvboy - you gentlemen have excellent taste! I readily admit, the Mannlicher-style stock isn't for everyone. I don't know a resource for a full-length stock now, so if anyone has a suggestion, I'd like to read of it.

Thank you Edward! You too have taste! Bad news though, the barrel I'm getting is 24 inches, Richards Microfit will only make a Mannlicher to 22 inches. And cutting the barrel any shorter just seems too risky. I'm still determined to have a Mannlicher in the future. Not trying to be funny or strange, but is it pronounced "Man Licker"? Or "Man Liker"?

I believe the correct pronuciation is "Man Licker," and the "Man" rhymes with "Ran."

Good luck on that project, wvboy! I agree with 99explorer; I pronounce it "Man Liquor Shown-hour", on the input of a friend who'd been stationed in Germany. Thank you for the tip! I'll check Richards Micro-Fit stocks to learn what options they can provide.

Thanks Edward! And 99, I didn't want to sound like a fool for calling it something down right strange. Now I know it's said like that lol.
