I don't know for sure. But Labrador experts believe that dogs that are successful at Field Trials make the best hunting dogs. There has only ever one brown National Champion. Maybe a half-dozen yellows. That makes what...mebbe 60 blacks. I dunno. I told the breeder I wanted the most rugged dogs for harsh conditions and he sent me two black males that grew up big.
