pathetic here, havent been out this season but friends of mine are walking great habitats and not flushing a single bird. This is our second year of terrible grouse numbers, last season I only saw 9 birds on as many hunts. We need a warm dry spring next year or I may not even bother with grouse hunting next fall
I have only been able to get out twice and have killed 2 birds because of college but i have heard that there are alot of birds around and i have heard from friends that they have killed quite a few hear in northern minnesota
I've also been limited in hunting time but when I've gone, there have been birds galore. Just not many shots at them. I've only shot 2 birds but I flushed about 30 in 2 hours.
I went on Saturday but didnt get anything there are too many leaves on the trees to get good shots right now. And not to mention all the snow piling up in the leaves made it nearly impossible to see them when flushed.
seen to many to count,,, i cant go in the woods without seeing or flushing at least 1... its thick so not a lot of good shots but im not going to lie i prefer ground swatting as i don't have a dog. i ve killed 5 birds in northern wisconsin PUBLIC land. i often hunt with another person...
I have been flushing near 30 birds everytime I've gone hunting this year but they have been flushing early and out of sight. Lots of birds out there just not too many in the hand (6) to show for it. I'm in the U.P. of Michigan.
