I'm looking for the best instructional dvd for gun dog training. I've never trained a dog before so it would need to be for someone with little knowledge to begin with.

I don't know about DVDs but I think it's hard to beat gun dog and water dog by Richard Walters. Thats how i trained my six year old, and he's a really great dog. I just started my pup on that program yesterday, or a mix of the two books really.

If it is a pointing dog, google Delmar Smith and if it is a retriever, consult Mike Lardy and Smatworks.
