Q:
I'm looking into buying a new shotgun this year for turkey season I was wondering what you guys like the best and think would be the best purchase Im going to get the all camo in whatever i get and was also wondering on how durable camo is on a gun if it wears off or chips. I'm currently using a rem. 870 express but don't have the camo Any advice you guys can give would be great.

Not to discourage you from buying a new shotgun, but why not just paint the 870? Unless it has some sentimental value, why not just do it yourself for about $20 for a H-S camo spray paint kit? You said it was an 870 Express, so there isn't exactly collector value there unless it is a Wingmaster instead of an Express.
I painted mine myself and have had several positive comments from the guys and no complaints from the turkeys or geese. Just a thought...
To add to what WAM has already advised, there are a lot of outfits out there that will camouflage your 870 for a lot less than the price of a new weapon.
I agree, you can paint up the 870 or you can have it camo dipped for way less than a new gun. Del has some friends who do an excellent job of dipping at a reasonable price. I visited the facility with Del back in November. Amazing process.
You can paint yours but I would buy the new gun in camo. I don't have great ability with a spray can and wind up with runs and it just doesn't end up the way I want it. I also just don't like painting or taping stuff when it comes to my guns. I would go with a Mossberg 835 camo shotgun.
Never miss the opportunity to get a new gun. All you need is a reason and money and the reason doesn't have to make sense to anybody but you. My Mossberg 835 is in camo and the wife didn't groan when she saw the price tag. I did have to get some spray camo paint and tone the camo down a little as it was too light, but that's minor. Good hunting.
Might consider an auto (I am a Benelli SBE fan) - takes a bit of the punishment out of those heavy turkey loads.
Besides paint, there's removable camo wrap/tape to camo-out any rifle or shotgun. I've never tried it, but am thinking about wrapping my BPS in it this spring. Seems faster, easier and you can just unwrap it when your done with it. They make many different patterns to match where you're going to hunt.
We are in the middle of a recession, the government is threatening to raise taxes, energy prices and health care costs and you want to buy a new gun. I wonder how anybody ever killed anything before camo was popular? I would save my money and kill another turkey with my 870 if I were you.
Go with a Benelli Nova or Super Nova in Realtree or Advantage. They go for $400 or less
