Yep, put a big ol' +1 on your turkey tally board.
Respectable bird.
Rio Grande.
Twenty one pounds.
Three quarter inch spurs.
Nine inch beard.
Remington 870 12 bore.
Win Super X - 2 3/4 inch No 7 1/2 shot.
Two months after season, my daughter asked to borrow my 870 to qualify with. Since my 870 has Rem-choke, I asked what "tube" she wanted.
"Full." came the reply.
Knowing I had been turkey hunting with an "Extra Full" tube, I grabbed my choke wrench and unscrewed the tighter tube.
Imagine my surprise when I found the "modified" tube in place from last September's dove hunt!
I killed that turkey at approximately 40 yards with a 12 gauge, 2 3/4 ammo, 7 1/2 shot and a modified tube!
Talk about lucky, well for me anyway!
haha yea talk about luck!! but hey only takes one pellet to put him down...twenty one pounds is a big bird regardless of beard or spurs, they must be well fed down where your at!
@bubba i didnt get one this spring but, my brother killed a bird nearly the same size as yours at about 4 yards, except to our surprise a shell for dove hunting had getting in his pouch and that was the lucky shell he picked
I harvested two in Kansas. My hunt in Oklahoma was a bust which is very atypical. Had hunters on the spot when we showed up and they had been working them pretty hard. All in all it was a great season (I was healthy, got to go, and got a bird) but it was a little below average. Mostly because we did not get the Okie toms.
Probably the worst year for gobbling I have seen in a long time as I am sure countryroad can attest to. In spite of the weather and tornadoes, my two sons and I each managed a longbeard apiece.
Didn't get out this spring since there are no huntable populations near me. Poor work planning prevented me from getting away long enough to make it worthwhile. Maybe next year I'll go to Alabama and hunt with my friend Lance.

I killed my first one this spring, 40 yards with my Mossberg 500. I'm certainly hooked on it now

First time in years I have struck out.
I didn't have time to go out for them. My dad managed to get a nice 2 year old bird.
I too missed out on the season,
by pure procrastination.
